In 'One Day' (2011), ever since the day they first met at their college graduation - July 15th,1988 - Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter Mayhew (Jim Sturgess) have kept in touch, meeting up again on the same day each year. Over the following two decades, the ups and downs of the relationship between the idealistic Emma and wealthy ladies' man Dexter are revisited every July 15th, as they try to take stock of their lives, and attempt to discover what they've both been missing all along. 'Atonement' (2007) is director Joe Wright's adaptation of the novel by Ian McEwan starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. On the hottest day of the summer of 1935, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) sees her older sister Cecilia (Knightley) strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching Cecilia is their housekeeper's son Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), a childhood friend who, along with Cecilia, has recently graduated from Cambridge. But by the end of that day the lives of all three are changed forever as Robbie and Cecilia become victims of Briony's imagination...
