Description
This covered bottle is the work of people on Awin Island, a small island in the Bismark Sea just south of the Ninigo Group and I acquired it there in 1970. There were only a few families on the island and weaving was their special skill and the challenge was to cover the various objects washed up on their shores.
The dyes have faded over the years and the original pattern is just faintly visible. Hopefully however the photos do justice to the fine intricate weave which is so tight around the bottle.
It is time to "downsize' for me so an opportunity for the genuine collector to acquire a unique artifact. Have a look on the map - Awin is a very small entity.
