Before listing this nugget, I spoke to someone who is very knowledgeable about all things gold, with over 40 years experience. He said that if the host rock was only quartz or only ironstone, a simple specific gravity test could be done to determine the gold content, but since there is a combination of gold, quartz, and ironstone, a specific gravity test would not be accurate.
