Description
Guaranteed 100% GENUINE British Isles ROMAN OCCUPATION era RARE & Rather LARGE Bronze Brooch "Fibula" BUT known as a "Cross Bow" Brooch
This is a BEAUTIFUL excavated RELIC found near the center of the British Roman City of Bath in Somerset, UK by a very good friend of mine WHO NEEDS a NEW (£8000.00) METAL DETECTOR
Roman Britain was the territory that became the Roman province of Britannia after the Roman conquest of Britain, consisting of a large part of the island of Great Britain
The occupation lasted from AD 43 - AD 410
Julius Caesar invaded Britain in 55 & 54 BC as part of his Gallic Wars
According to Caesar, the Britons had been overrun or culturally assimilated by the Belgae during the British Iron Age & had been aiding Caesar's enemies
The Belgae were the only Celtic tribe to cross the sea into Britain, for to all other Celtic tribes this land was unknown
He received tribute, installed the friendly king Mandubracius over the Trinovantes, & returned to Gaul

A fibula is a brooch or pin for fastening garments, typically at the right shoulder
The fibula developed in a variety of shapes, but all were based on the safety-pin principle
Unlike most modern brooches, fibulae were not only decorative; they originally served a practical function: to fasten clothing for both sexes, such as dresses & cloak
In English, "fibula" is not a word used for modern jewelry, but by archaeologists, who also use "brooch", especially for types other than the ancient "safety pin" types, & for types from the British Isles
For Continental archaeologists, all metal jewellery clothes-fasteners are usually "fibulae"

Seller added 3 photos Seller comment Tuesday, 26 March 2024 is there any kind of authentication available for this unique item ? thanks c*********9 (231 • 07:34 pm, Thu, 28 Mar )Sadly "no" there is not. However it does come with my STANDARD guarantee (As a 34-years licenced & registered antique dealer) that it is EXACTLY what I have claimed, My guarantee is "good for life" & is good for a full refund of purchase price & the cost of postage (both ways). I know the guy that dug this out of the ground, REALLY it does not get better than that. Please review my 22 years of feedback on TradeMe Presently selling for a fraction of its likely "worth" I expect price to rise A LOT phillipjames (8980 • Thursday, 28 March 2024 )I might say that the EXCREMENT marketed by "The Franklin Mint" does ALWAYS come with a "Certificate of Authenticity" (C.O.A.) But there stuff is worthless, their guarantee not worth the paper its written on. FEW genuine artifacts come with any "certificate" and you should be wary of many that do. There are some knowledeable buyers out there on TM and you will not see many asking for "authenticity proof" on items I sell. I do not do fakes as there is too much competition. Good luck if bidding?🙂 Seller comment Friday, 29 March 2024 Seller added 1 photo Seller comment Sunday, 31 March 2024 hey...no offense,,, just asking because if im lucky enough to purchase this i would gift it, i would like the new owner who is a sharp (borderline skeptical)person to be impressed with out a boubt. thanks c*********9 (231 • 08:17 pm, Sun, 31 Mar )"In hand" the blatant authenticity of this truly superb artifact should be readily appreciated by any sharp mind. Cynicism will evaporate & the clearly genuine age-induced patina will shine as obvious & without the slightest doubt that this is The Real McCoyAND It comes with a money-back guarantee 🙂 I suspect that the only "Fly in the ointment" will be that there are several discerning collectors out there that KNOW that this is AWESOME & it will (I hope) NOT be "cheap"🙁 Good luck if you bid🙂 phillipjames (8980 • Sunday, 31 March 2024 )
