Description
Antique Cast Iron vintage toy pistol
Branded "Tip Top" but no actual maker's name
I believe this is very likely an American-made cap pistol
I have seen similar examples on the WWW but did not find this EXACT one
Other "Tip Top" cast iron cap pistols had lots of numbers on them
This one MAY say "Tip Top # 1"?
AGE = Circa 1870's -1880's

This gun is sold EXACTLY "as found", the very MINOR "rust" seen on one side? Would very likely disappear with an application of "C.R.C." or "WD40" Seller comment Friday, 29 March 2024 Hi maybe dumb question but I will ask anyway. How can you authenticate this one and the others on the board you have for sale are genuine and not remakes? Indian cast copies for example? Are you a collector? How long have you had them? Etc. I am not saying they are not genuine but want to be convinced before laying any money on the table. s*******y (603 • 10:52 pm, Tue, 2 Apr )It IS a rather dumb question 🙁 BUT the DUMBEST QUESTION? is that NOT asked 🙂 I am a full-time registered & licenced professional antique dealer. I offer a LIFETIME guarantee of authenticity on every item I sell, that includes full refund of purchase price & postage costs BOTH ways. I have purchased these items in the last 6 months. They are 100% genuine & if you WERE holding them in-hand? & you were a knowledgeable collector? you would KNOW that there ARE The Real McCoy & I GUARANTEE they are phillipjames (8980 • Tuesday, 2 April 2024 )Appreciate the lengthy answer. I am a collector but not familiar with these German cast steel versions. I have around 60 cast alloy ones mainly NZ and Australian made. I only have 4 cast steel and these are made in the US and more Western style. Thanks for the feedback. s*******y (603 • 12:46 am, Wed, 3 Apr )The "collection" of 11 cap guns (German) are pressed Steel, only the "Tip Top" is Cast Iron and MOST LIKELY American. The likelihood of either being any kind of reproduction? is in my view non existent. Indian cast fakes are excrement. These items are absolutely genuine antiques and date closely to the date/age that I estimate/claim in my listings. WERE they reproductions? You WOULD see them all over the WWW with a simple Google search, I failed to find a Tip Top identical to mine = NO FAKE(S) phillipjames (8980 • Wednesday, 3 April 2024 )
