The Sturmgewehr 44, ("assault rifle 44") was developed during WW2 by Hugo Schmeisser

Also known as the MP 43 & MP 44 (Maschinenpistole 43 & 44)

The StG 44 was the first successful assault rifle, with features including an intermediate cartridge, controllable automatic fire, a more compact design than a battle rifle with a higher rate of fire, & being designed primarily for hitting targets within 100 meters

Other WW2 rifles were designed to hit targets of over 1000 meters, but this was in excess of the range in which most enemy engagements occurred

The StG largely influenced the Soviet AK-47, introduced two years after WW2

The StG's influence can still be seen in modern assault rifles, which, after WW2, became the global standard for infantry rifles

  • SORRY for removing the first bid, the listing has NO RESERVE and was SUPPOSED to be a TEN DY listing to decrease the likelihood of me making a LOSS on the sale. End time has now been CORRECTED. Do please feel free to replace your bid and GOOD LUCK (This did NOT cost me $1.00) and these irreplaceable blank firing replicas are now a PROHIBITED IMPORT and a COLLECTOR'S INVESTMENT ITEM Seller comment Thursday, 25 April 2024
  • Yeah its pathetic that these got banned from being imported, they used to be very affordable. I sold one last year and was surprised at how much I got for it, very easy profit. w**********o (194)09:37 am, Fri, 26 Apr I must agree entirely, though I would have worded my criticism MUCH more strongly 🙂 TM would frown upon the language that I would be tempted to use 🙁. Now that only a very LIMITED AMOUNT of these VERY VERY FINE replicas abide in Kiwiland? Their prices are only going one way = UP So I will repeat myself for the bidders who may not realise this (yet) This should prove to be a VERY WORTHY *COLLECTOR'S INVESTMENT* ITEM. One you can play with & will HOLD its value or perhaps significantly increase phillipjames (8988) • Friday, 26 April 2024

  • very nice Philip! k*******e (243)05:17 pm, Sat, 27 Apr Looks just like the Real McCoy don't it??? phillipjames (8988) • Saturday, 27 April 2024
  • Hi there. Do you need a licence to purchase the blank rounds? Thanks g*****8 (379)07:38 pm, Sun, 28 Apr I have had 2 answers to this question 1= "No" the other = "Yes" (The OPINIONS of other TM members) Ring your local Arms Officer and ask HIM for the conclusive answer (Oddly different Arms Officers have different opinions?) I would go with whatever your local A.O. advises. In any event I do know that POSTING AMMUNITION whether "Live" ordnance? OR "Blanks"? is problematic. You would likely need a friend with a FAL to obtain the blanks for you, when at a Gun Shop, & bring it to you without posting phillipjames (8988) • Sunday, 28 April 2024
  • no license for blanks needed. s***0 (4)09:16 am, Thu, 2 May Opinions would appear to differ on that.....It would seem that you get different answers "Yes" and "no" FLA required to purchase blanks. Nonetheless, I was told by my (last) Arms Officer that you need to observe the same (very difficult) protocols to MAIL blanks as you do for mailing "Live ammunition" phillipjames (8988) • Thursday, 2 May 2024
  • Yes right there are issues with mailing as need to be treated as live ammunition but buy from a gun shop direct in person or even by mail from a gun shop and they will ship correctly for you . Like blank guns themselves over 18 and sensible on where and when you should use and purchaser will have no issues owning or buying blank guns and blank rounds . At least for now assuming no new law changes . a*********r (364)08:08 pm, Sat, 4 May Thanks for that clarification Alfred, I expect that will be most reassuring to those who intend to USE this as a FIRING REENACTOR's type "weapon", rather than simply have it as a static mannequin display. I do HAVE 100 rounds of 9mm blanks which, subject to sale price? I MAY throw in "FREE"? But not at all keen to mail these. If buyer is not too far away (??) IE upper mid-North Island they could collect, or I may deliver,? IF they are not in any massive rush to receive? phillipjames (8988) • Saturday, 4 May 2024
  • When mailing blank rounds you have to declare it as a dangerous good. Its just a little extra paperwork. The last time I purchased some they arrived via PBT couriers (if this is any help) w**********o (194)07:50 pm, Sun, 5 May At this stage? ANYTHING (positive) is a GREAT HELP thanks 🙂 phillipjames (8988) • Sunday, 5 May 2024
