Description
Guaranteed 100% GENUINE British Isles ROMAN OCCUPATION era RARE Bronze DISK BROOCH with LOVELY GREEN & RED ENAMEL inlay
This is a BEAUTIFUL excavated RELIC found near the center of the British Roman City of Bath in Somerset, UK by a very good friend of mine WHO NEEDS a NEW (£8000.00) METAL DETECTOR :-(
Roman Britain was the territory that became the Roman province of Britannia after the Roman conquest of Britain, consisting of a large part of the island of Great Britain
The occupation lasted from AD 43 - AD 410
Julius Caesar invaded Britain in 55 & 54 BC as part of his Gallic Wars
According to Caesar, the Britons had been overrun or culturally assimilated by the Belgae during the British Iron Age & had been aiding Caesar's enemies
The Belgae were the only Celtic tribe to cross the sea into Britain, for to all other Celtic tribes this land was unknown
He received tribute, installed the friendly king Mandubracius over the Trinovantes, & returned to Gaul

A fibula is a brooch or pin for fastening garments, typically at the right shoulder
The fibula developed in a variety of shapes, but all were based on the safety-pin principle
Unlike most modern brooches, fibulae were not only decorative; they originally served a practical function: to fasten clothing for both sexes, such as dresses & cloak
In English, "fibula" is not a word used for modern jewelry, but by archaeologists, who also use "brooch", especially for types other than the ancient "safety pin" types, & for types from the British Isles
For Continental archaeologists, all metal jewelry clothes-fasteners are usually "fibulae"

If this is a legitimate relic then where is the information about provenance and why are you selling it for $1? m**********7 (190 • 12:50 am, Tue, 7 May )"IF" is insulting 🙁 & totally disregards the first 3 words in my description. 99.9% of my *guaranteed genuine* items do not HAVE provenance. Most genuine antiques do not have provenance (But at least you did SPELL provenance correctly, which IS refreshing.) This item DOES come with PROVENIENCE, most antiques DON'T. I am NOT selling this 1800 year-old brooch for $1.00. This genuine relic will belong to the highest bidder, who gets to determine its final value🙂 30+ previously sold NO COMPLAINTS phillipjames (9002 • Tuesday, 7 May 2024 )I did not say antique I said relic which is the term you originally used. Also, after saying it was refreshing that I knew how to spell provenance you then misspelled it when you used all caps for emphasis... again. The reality is you may end up selling this for $1 because you've set no reserve price and started it at $1. You're easily offended if someone questioning you because they're sceptical, in an attempt to protect themselves from potential scammers, bothers you. I wish you the best. m**********7 (190 • 9:11 am, Tue, 7 May )To be FAIR? The first descriptive noun I used was "genuine ARTIFACT" (In my listing's title). "Relic" is more to do with the item's CONDITION. YES I AM easily offended. I have now tolerated decades of foolish "questions" & comments from stupid people wishing to SOUND ERUDITE. People who ask if my item has "PROVIDENCE"? (IE "God's advice?") offend me with their fatuous ILLITERACY. Similarly fools that DO NOT know what the descriptive word "PROVENIENCE" means? (OR spelled?) DO try my patience🙁 phillipjames (9002 • Tuesday, 7 May 2024 )Hi,am interested in bidding on this item. Could you please post copy of this object itemised on the UK export licence. Thanks. n********n (193 • 10:52 am, Tue, 7 May )Sorry May if you are seriously interested in bidding?, then you will need to do so in the absence of such phillipjames (9002 • Tuesday, 7 May 2024 )If the winning bid is only $1.00? Then that is what it will sell for. Past experience & hundreds of repeat bidders & HAPPY buyers of my UK friend's guaranteed genuine antique relics? reassure me that this superb brooch will make a fair market price. Watch it and see!. But should you make the MISTAKE of likening me to a scammer again? Then you will be unable to ever bid, or place comment, or questions on my listings 🙁 Seller comment Tuesday, 7 May 2024 Interested ! The base is cast in iron ? Is this an early ' cloisonné ' technique, you think h******r (599 • 3:10 pm, Wed, 8 May )Its Bronze Henry, I am uncertain what the Roman enamel WAS made of?, but am reliably informed NOT Glass. Viking Jewellery (Early Middle Ages, the 8th to the 11th centuries) has glass, I am told that although Romans invented (Discovered) glass, the enamels used in their jewelry were of some other material(?) That was not as permanent as glass. Hence the rarity to even find remnants of Roman enamels. IF glass was used in Roman jewellery? it was inserted glass beads not fired-in-place as Cloisonne phillipjames (9002 • Wednesday, 8 May 2024 )Is this an old fashioned draw or cupboard handle that’s been broken off? b*******5 (10 • 10:10 pm, Wed, 8 May )An interesting THEORY but as likely as you winning my listing I would guess. Please refrain from such idiot comments in the future, or you will be permanently blacklisted 🙁 phillipjames (9002 • Wednesday, 8 May 2024 )Ah there it is stupidity EXPLAINED! It was the FULL MOON Last night!! And clearly, the IDIOTS are out walking around. Methinks I will get to ADD a few to my growing BLACKLIST🙁 Seller comment Thursday, 9 May 2024 Opinions are like assholes (everyone has one. But YOU do not NEED to BE ONE!) "It is better to remain silent & be THOUGHT stupid, than to speak out & remove all doubt". Asking questions that show you have *utterly failed to read or understand* my description, DOES waste my time.🙁 But I made the effort to very clearly answer any misgivings. But IF you took offense? to the manner of my expressing clarity to your idiot question's answer? DOES MEAN you will NEVER have to worry about us trading 🙁 Seller comment Thursday, 9 May 2024
