Have this huge polished 52lb arahura pounamu mere bowl carved by peter tauwhare of arahura pa. peter is a 4th moko to tuhuru warrior chief that led ngati waewae to conquer westland over 200 years ago. rangatira/kaumatua of nagti waewae/ngai tahu and kaitiaki of arahura/westland pounamu born on the arahura pa 1962 and still lives and carves there today for his tamariki and mokopuna. this is perfect piece to keep your most sacred taonga or valuables or as an ataahua fruit bowl to light up your dining table like never before. is such an amazing piece to look at and feel and the mere is almost as if you can take it out. pete says this is the way they use to make mere many years ago as were not able to slice it. size is 500mm long, 170mm high, 220mm wide. this piece has mostly polished up to 6000 grit apart from the back and bottom left raw to show its natural ataahua state. we are the ruddell-tauwhare whanau of arahura and operate under our rights and possesions/taonga signed to us in 1835 under he whakaputanga by king william the 4th who was represented by busby. check out our other listings
