Description
Terawhiti-the story of our capital city’s largest sheep station by C. Morrison, published in 2003. The card covered book has 196 pages and is in lovely condition.
Terawhiti is a lively account of the people and events which created this well known pastoral property. It covers the first trek taken by a young Irishman James McMenamen, through the many disasters and triumphs Terawhiti’s history is rich with memories of those that overcame its remoteness, living and working on the land. Ngati Ira tribe, lookout point for Maori, Te Rauparaha, shipwrecks along the coastline, scourge that rabbits brought on the land, wild dogs, finding gold etc. An in depth and interesting book. For some reason my pics make the pages look a bluey colour, they are actually white.
