Description
Brilliant 1928 heritage of UK/Scotland Golfing; Great gift for that special person who is a keen golfer and appreciates the finer things things in life..like golf & sterling!!
This piece was made & designed by the maker (patent mark) which is by W.J.D., William James Dingley, registered in Warston Lane in Birmingham as early as 1886 until 1934..re-registered in 1955 though to 1966. This spoon is dated: Anchor./lion/D on shields as being 1928; 2 x added marks on back of spoon Lion & D on shield. Marks are quite clear.
This appears to be modelled on the Scottish player James Braid, a hugely successful player & golf course architect. Checking historic photos, the image/dress, certainly looks like him. He was still designing courses up until he died in 1950.
Stunning piece, in excellent order, no damage, dents etc. Overall length is 11.5 cm.
Treat yourself or another!
