Description
I have a pair of very old pick hammers here. I thought they were welder's slag chipping hammers, but a watcher has just informed me that they are old staple picks. Good clean original condition.
The smaller one has NZ MADE die stamped onto it, and it looks to have been handmade in a small local engineering shop rather than in a factory tool shop, which I think makes it quite special.
The larger hammer is a proper factory made item by W Marples & Sons of Sheffield England. I tried to photograph the stamp, but I see it hasn't come out very well.
Both tools have a small chip on one side of the head surface, but are otherwise in sound condition. The pick end on each hammer is really good. They would both be very old tools. I can't see any pictures or information about this all-steel style of hammer on any of the W Marples sites, so a good opportunity for a tool collector to get a couple of unique items.
