A probably antique original watercolour painting that is signed Meshe Driver - Meshe Driver (1861 - 1926 - also known as Meste Driver) M Driver - - watercolour painting, probably of a bridge over the Waikato River as per photos. (except that camera flash can change colours & shades etc and make things look brighter & better than they really are)

Have reduced price heaps to what you now see as we need the room, so it needs to find a new home to be loved in.

(I have a number of other watercolours signed Driver, from the same time period on other auctions. at the moment - until they sell of course) Most of the others are dated 1916 -1922, so this one is from around the same time period)

Helpful watcher says .. "But the name may be Meste Driver. The 1917 CSA catalogue gives her that spelling - and if you googe it, it comes up under <https://findnzartists.org.nz/>­. So the correct name may be 'Meste.' "Meste" is only known as an Austrian surname, whereas 'Meshe' is known as a first name. (thanks)

Anyway, the painting looks reasonably good for an antique artwork. Has odd little spots and / or marks, brown spots etc but its fine but the painting, or the artists work looks good. The surround card is heavily spotted and marked etc, so would look heaps better if the glass was cleaned inside & out and the card surround changed.
The frame is retro and a light one. Frame measures approx 440mm x 335mm. What you can actually see of the painting itself measures approx 290mm x 185mm. Good for someone who likes old art or who knows about the place or artist.

We allow pickups, but if you do not want to pickup, then we can send for you, on your behalf, at your risk. Couriers & PO etc do not cover antiques, collectables & heaps of other things so is sent entirely at your risk.- so again, sent at your risk if you want us to send for you instead of picking up. Please note the different postage options and choose the right one for your situation.
