A neat, and what looks to be an old antique painting of a domed building. I can seem to see a date of 1846 bottom left, but do not know if that is the date it was painted, or just a date to do with the painting itself. In the photos it looks more like 1946, (how the light catches it) but when you actually see it without light relection etc, it is an 8 (1846) Looks like there may be traces of a signature, but I can not make it out and this is the best my camera can do. Is sold as is, because, again, I do not actually know how old it is or who did it. Really hoping someone may recognise the style, of the building, or even the artist. Watcher says "Hi there, I pretty sure it is the dome roof of the Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. Plus some houses along a canal with their distinct type of Dutch roofs. Can you make out any letters of the artist's name? If you search on Google Images "Lutheran Church Amsterdam" you can see photos of the church. Hope this helps. Hard to gauge value perhaps without artist's name. world5" Another helpful watcher says I spent some time doing research and I think you might find this is more likely to be a painting inspired by Ooskerke Church, Zeeland province, Netherlands. There are specific architectural details that lend more to it being that church than the Lutheran church previously mentioned. I couldnt find any details on who might have painted it. trekke It is done on canvas, and that is tacked around a frame that seems to sit inside the other outer frame. It is done on canvas, and obviously, it is not glassed. I would guess that the outer frame is more modern that the painting. To me, I think it might have varnish or something like that on it, as it is hard to photo without getting a bit of reflection. Frame measures approx 860mm x 660mm. What you can actually see of the painting is approx 780mm x 580mm. Happy to wrap in a good amount of cardboard & post at your risk. Good for someone, especially if they know about it.
