Description

An ordinary family challenged by extraordinary circumstances - and faced with a dim prospect of death - form the background for this novel by the popular Victorian author Charlotte Tucker. The story is interwoven with a joyful gospel message that illustrates the profound differences between the converted and the unconverted, even when the unconverted are professing Christians.

We found an original copy of this book at a second hand bookshop and were so impressed by its vigor and truth that we typed it all out for a renewed edition. To our knowledge, other publishers have not discovered this little gem which provides a great discussion point for homeschoolers and Christian families.

Excerpt: “I do not see why we should despair of escaping,” said Asahel more cheerfully. “Let us make one more resolute effort. We will divide, that we may more thoroughly examine the place; know each other’s position by frequent hallooing; and the first who catches a glimpse of the daylight shall shout three times as loud as he can.”

This proposition was eagerly seconded by Arthur, at whose age hope is usually buoyant, and whose energies were stimulated by the sharp pang of hunger. Phemie felt secretly frightened at the idea of being separated from her companions, and dying perhaps, quite alone. She, however, kept her fears to herself, and only proposed prayer before they divided.

This title is Number 2 in Lakeview Publishing's Resurrection Series.

137 page paperback, A5 size.
