Strongman, three score and more by Peter Ewen, hard covered large book of 222 pages and printed in 2006. Basically the book is in new condition apart from a small short piece missing at the top left corner of the cover, see last pic. (added a close up pic of this on my other auction running this week, the toy kitchen refrigerator because I already had 20 pics on this auction.)

The author says-Perhaps because of the disaster of 1967, that is one reason why a book on Strongman has been absent from store shelves before 2006, it’s been over 50 years since that day and it’s fitting that these men, along with the single fatalities too that occurred over the years at Strongman, are remembered but also a more complete story of Strongman is told. There is a hope that in a small way this book is a tribute to those men who died so they are not forgotten nor the lessons learnt of their untimely deaths. In the mine, bad miners bored holes that were too tight and certain deputies and shot firers would charge those illegal holes and fire them regardless of the danger they were creating. It was evident in the 1967 disaster that shot firing in the presence of methane gas was the most likely cause of the subsequent explosion. Following the explosion the men at the winch felt a blast and were immediately enveloped by blinding clouds of dust and smoke and they had to find their way out by touching along the side of the tunnel of the haulage road. A very interesting book.
