This book is by Henry Brett, condensed and edited by Cyril R Bradwell, hard covered book of 235 pages. The dust jacket has some staining down the spine area and some surface loss at the bottom of the spine and a rip at the bottom of the dust jacket back-see pics. The interior of the book is in quite nice condition, pen inscription at the top of the first blank page in the book. This book is the story of immigrant ships arriving in NZ 1840 to 1902, including sinkings, wrecks, mutiny, a terrifying trip, appalling conditions, the effect of bad stowage, first to Wellington, first to Wanganui, fire at sea, crowded conditions, 470 lives lost, bravery and death, a drunken captain, deer, grog and gunpowder, the fastest run, NZ shipping Co etc etc.
