ISBN: 9780237536084 PUBLISHER: Evans Brothers Ltd FORMAT: Paperback PAGES: 48 PUBLICATION DATE: 11.07.2008 DIMENSIONS: 24.6 x 18.9 x 1 centimetres
DESCRIPTION: How do science, and decisions that scientists make, affect us? What are the universal problems facing modern science? How are these issues dealt with in different societies? This series explores our role in monitoring, developing and controlling scientific advances in a wide range of topics. The Teachers' Book includes all four topic areas - Health, Power, Food and Technology. The pages are split into two main areas - worksheets and class activities. Worksheets will guide pupils through the topic and lead them to points of discussion. They will include a variety of activities: mix and match; directed reading questions; data analysis; diagram labelling/analysis etc. These will be photocopiable pages. Class activities will be a guide for teachers to first help pupils to understand a concept, and then allow them to voice their opinions on a class scale. These will include whole-class debates and discussions within small groups. The aim of the class activities is to make sure the pupils are aware of the two sides to the argument and that they are given all the tools to formulate an argument.
