HIGHLY REFINED COAL TAR CREOSTAIN OIL IS ONE OF THE BEST TIMBER PRESERVES ON THE MARKET. CREOSTAIN WILL PROTECT ALL OUTDOOR TIMBER FROM ROT, FUNGI, AND INSECT ATTACK.

Creostain is intended primarily for application by means of spraying, dipping or brushing. It's good viscosity and liquidity allows Creostain to be applied without heating. Creostain is also suitable for application by the hot and cold open tank process or by pressure impregnation. If the Creostain requires straining before application, this can be done through cheesecloth or similar material. Creostain has been used for the preservation of timber for well over a century. Numerous service trials and field tests have shown it to be highly effective.

Creostain has a certain degree of water repellence and can retard the movement of timber and decrease the chances of splitting, checking and distortion which tends to occur in timber exposed to weather. Porous materials such as plaster, if in contact with treated wood tends to extract Creostain by capillary action and become stained. It is also non corrosive to metals and can have a protective action on iron and steel.

Creostain will give an attractive finish to most surfaces when applied correctly. Creostain is suitable to use on fences, sheds, boat houses, stock pens, garden steaks, frames, trellis and landscaping.

Creostain has a characteristic odour which can be picked up by foodstuffs and other materials in the vicinity, without actually coming into contact with the treated wood. It is resistant to leaching and is particularly suitable for exterior work except where odour is objectionable.

Creostain is not readily flammable and after a few months of drying or weathering, creostained treated timber presents no greater fire hazard then other timber. Personnel handling Creostain should wear gloves, (PVC) goggles and overalls. Launder contaminated clothing before re - use.

Approx. coverage: 6 square metres per litre.
