Lister 12/2 diesel stationary engine

I bought this out of a shearing shed that had only had electricity connected last year. Was running when taken out of commission. Owner stated "It has shorn 35,000 sheep a year for almost eighty years" I suspect this is the second engine in there since his granddaddy built the shed in 1907 - the serial number suggests this 12/2 was built in 1974

I bought & paid for it last year but only got around to collecting it two weeks ago.

Diesel & cooling were disconnected but when I gave it a half-hearted turn over it rewarded me with a good puff of smoke. IMHO it will be a runner

I bought it to fit to an 8kW alternator but blew that unit up a while back, so Lister is now surplus to requirements

Only known faults are a worn gib key on the injector side (flywheel is off) and a snapped-off head on the gib key on the other side (I drilled into it and hammered a big easi-out into it, attached a pair of vice grips & tried to pull it out - but it will need patience, INOX & heat to extract IMHO

I built a lifting eye off the six "inner" head studs to lift it. It's parked under a tree and with a chain winch & some patience we could lift it OK to back a trailer underneath
