A tweak to our Terms and conditions

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 5:30pm, Mon 25 Aug 2014

We wanted to let you know that we've made two slight tweaks to our Terms and conditions to bring them in line with our recently updated Privacy policy.

The first change is to 6.2. We’re moving the following information out of 6.10 and into 6.2:

“If you wish to take Disputes Tribunal (or other) proceedings against another member, you can contact Trade Me for a statutory declaration form which must be completed before we will consider releasing anyone else's information to you. You may only request contact details for the sole purpose of making a claim.” More...

Farewell to Rummage

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 1:30pm, Wed 20 Aug 2014

A couple of years ago we launched Rummage, a tool that gave us a fun, visual way to browse Trade Me.

Last week we said farewell to this funky feature to allow us to focus on enhancing our core site and mobile apps. If you head to Rummage, you’ll now be redirected back to Trade Me.

We’ve got lots of cool updates in the pipeline to make our site even better, so keep an eye out.

Ivory and other animals banned from Trade Me

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 10:00am, Fri 15 Aug 2014

We’ve made a decision to change the rules around the sale of endangered animal parts on Trade Me. The revised rules will come into effect on 17 September 2014.

The ban will affect almost all ivory sales on Trade Me. It also includes parts from animals such as red panda, gorilla, chimpanzee, tigers, lion, leopards, jaguar, cheetah, elephants, dugong, manatees and rhinoceros. All animals listed under the Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora are captured.

We’re doing this as it is the right thing to do. We’ve consulted with a lot of experts in this area, including advocacy groups and the Department of Conservation. This move is in line with international trends.  More...

Trade Me – Who are we?

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 9:30am, Wed 13 Aug 2014

You might be surprised to learn that Trade Me’s been around for 15 years now. In that time, we’ve grown from 2 members to 20 members to millions of members – it has been an amazing journey. Likewise, our staff has grown from a small room of like-minded folk to a team of over 350 in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. We’re all helping Trade Me do what it is good at – connecting people online to do a deal in a way that is trusted, great value, and pro-consumer.

Along with the good sorts at Stem Creative, we’ve put together a short ‘behind the scenes’ video about the people that make Trade Me tick. Look out for a very dapper appearance by Trade Me founder (and current director) Sam Morgan. We hope you can find 362 seconds of your day to watch it. Oh, and if you’re interested in joining our team, please check out our Careers page.
