HP Omen Mindframe Headset

I purchased these headphones from PB Tech approximately eight months ago for my son. They have recently developed an intermittent fault where the audio cuts out and then resumes. I suspect this may be due to a twisted cord, as can be seen in the attached photographs. The cord design appears to be rather fragile. When the headphones are functioning properly, they provide excellent audio quality and are very comfortable to wear. It is possible that the issue could be resolved by replacing the cord or applying tape to the twisted sections.
