This is a mid level server which should provide a reasonable platform to build on, it's quite upgradeable and in good condition. We've refurbished it a bit, added some non-HP parts (but still compatible) to make it more useful

With two CPUs and dual power it's a useful server as it comes and the 12 gigabit ethernet give some good options.

Unlike earlier generations of HP servers the Gen8 has gigabit ethernet on the iLO and with the advanced licence installed this is a pleasure to manage remotely.

Overall this is quite clean, the top does have some scuffs, paint flaking and scratches from being a bit tightly fitted in the rack apart from that it's good.

Storage is two ADATA SX900 256GB SSDs, note they are used generic disks and remaining life is unknown. They do test ok and are set up as a RAID 1 volume. The Smart 420i is basic version only it is possible to add the cache module later.

We've run diagnostics and can't fault it, everything works as it should and disks are good. RAM is 2x 16GB DDR3, it has plenty of free slots for adding more RAM. (RAM isn't HP smart memory but is compatible.)

Photos show this server, note it has some of the paint flaked off on the top front. This does include a rack kit.
