Headphone Jack & a really long Telescopic Ariel allows You to pick out those Short Wave stations at night *& listen in privately. Super compact & yet solid performer. A really fantastic intro to the wonders of shortwave radio to & 4 the younger set; Listening late into the evening and pulling in all those far away radio stations from all over the world. Just the ticket for the cricket & a really Great camping, hiking, hunting, fishing radio (super lite-wt & compact) to tune into those all important weather forecasts and a really cost-effective back-up plan (twin double AA's) to tune into civil defence/ emergency broadcasts, in the event of an earthquake, tsumani, other major event. Also has 5 Volt DC power supply jack (Grab a plug/ Adapter from Jaycar), although 2 sets of Rechargeable AA'S solves the problem. Comes with a new pair of AA'S, ready 2 buggie. At this price these wont last long & represent incredible value for money - That pressy with a diff You have been looking for for that curious 8 year old, etc, etc. Having a little set like this is really a no-brainer; Jest part & parcel of good preparation, like having a box of candles & a working flashlight; Just plain common sense & preparation. You may need two; One for that quick-thinking 10 year old as a birthday gift & one for the family as part of the back-up box of prep goodies/ go-bag for that emergency, we hope never comes (& the radio that never needs to be used). But I'm picking that You'll be as 'flat-out' IMPRESSED with this beautifully-made, fabulous little "PERFORMER" as I am.
