Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a first-person shooting game set in between the events of the first two games. Players take control of four new characters in the employ of Handsome Jack before he rose to power in the Hyperion Corporation.

Gameplay remains centered on shooting your way through areas filled with enemies and grabbing procedurally generated loot including weapons, mods, shields and relics. Characters gain levels from defeating enemies and completing missions, allowing players to customize their skills and abilities from build trees.

New features in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel include low-gravity environments thanks to the game taking place on the moon orbiting the planet Pandora, oxygen-powered jetpacks, the new laser weapon class, the new Cryo ice elemental damage type, and new vehicles.
