Overview Calcium is the most abundant mineral found in the body and most of it is found in our bones. It is one of the most important minerals involved in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Since magnesium works closely with calcium to play an important role in maintaining healthy bones and contributes to increased bone density, this formation makes an ideal, easily absorbed supplement to take. There is a great deal of convincing evidence showing a correlation between calcium intake and losing fat. A diet low in calcium has been shown to lead to an increase in body fat while a diet high in calcium has been shown to reduce body fat. You get calcium in your diet from dairy products and leafy vegetables. It is always best to get your vitamin and mineral needs from diet where possible, however this can be difficult (particularly for those who can't eat dairy) and supplements are often needed to compensate for the shortfall.

Magnesium is often regarded as the partner of calcium. Whereas calcium is involved in the contraction of muscles, magnesium is involved in the relaxation of muscles. Magnesium assists with the utilization of calcium and other minerals and vitamins.
