The bed head and foot are joined by a length of angle iron on each side of the bed. The angle iron bolts to metal brackets on the bedhead and foot. The bracket height is set so the angle iron sits neatly on top of the base and underneath the mattress. We've used this on two different beds and the photos show holes in the timber where I raised the bracket level. This system is very simple to set up, and the angle iron is concealed under the top sheet and duvet cover.

Purchased new approx 20yr ago. Well looked after and oiled frequently. Minor scratches and blemishes.
