ABOUT INVICTA Originally established in 1837 in Switzerland, Invicta is now located in Florida, USA. The brand has a wide range of watches and has partnered with U.S. Navy and Army to create speciality watches. Shaquille O’Neal wore an Invicta and has a range name after him.

WHAT I LIKE This is a great dive watch with real presence and style. The matching blue dial/bezel is pure class. It ticks all the boxes: 300m water resistance, accurate uni-directional bezel, sturdy stainless steel construction, screw down crown, cyclops date window, luminous hands / markers and a secure fold over deployment clasp with 4 micro adjustments.

Powered by one of the world’s most popular 24 jewel automatic movements (Seiko Instruments NH35A), this watch has a 41 hour power reserve and uses Seiko’s proprietary Magic Lever and Diashock systems. Essentially, this equates to efficiency and accuracy. I recently read a review that compared this movement to the ETA 2428 as used by Breitling. The exhibition case back is a classy feature enabling you to see the automatic movement in action.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE I’m not keen on the box. It scuffs and dents easily. In fact it has sustained a few dents during the packing/shipping process (see photos). In saying that, it has done its job and protected the watch perfectly between New York and NZ. The bezel is firm and accurate but I would prefer a machined coin edge grip to the scalloped grip.
