Description
*** $1 RESERVE***
A very usual vintage watch from the early 1900s.
If you ever wondered where Franck Muller gets his inspiration from, it's these!
It's pretty hard finding vintage watches in large cases, but this one doesn't disappoint. The rectangular case measures a whopping 25.5 x 41mm which makes this watch ideal for someone searching for a beefier vintage watch. -- In the last picture, I've shown it next to a more typically sized tank (Omega T17) to illustrate the scale.
The hinged case is made from solid 800 'Continental' silver, with a clear stamp on the case back denoting this fact. Powering the watch is a simple 15 jewel manual wind (Swiss made). The watch runs and keeps acceptable vintage time, but is being sold as-is without a known service history.
The dial on this piece is stunning. The exaggerative 'exploding numbers' are a real highlight, as are the screw accents which reflect an old-fashioned method of affixing the dial to movement: A characteristic seen on some of these early tanks across a range of top tier manufacturers.
Please note that there is some lume loss to the hour hand, but this is easy enough to rectify. The watch comes on a lovely brand new tan leather strap.
