VINTAGE RETRO CITIZEN 52-0110 150m 'Challenge Diver' ...'HYBRID' from JANUARY 1977...
THIS WATCH IS A 52-0110 CASE & BEZEL WITH A '6501' MOVEMENT. A LESS 'JEWELLED' DAY/DATE VERSION OF THE 21 Jewel '6001' FOUND IN THE CITIZEN 62-6198 150m DIVER (the mid-'70s model before the 52-0110). ON PAPER, ARGUABLY A BETTER QUALITY MOVEMENT (less internal plastic parts).
Presents VERY nicely, LOVELY PATINATION, a STYLISH, QUALITY VINTAGE DIVERS WATCH...LOVELY WEIGHT, FIT & FINISH.
Movement: cal.6501. 17 Jewels AUTOMATIC. EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN...BUT DOES STOP & START FROM TIME TO TIME...SERVICE TIME!
Case: 40mm(W) excluding crown. (43mm inc. crown). 47mm lug to lug. Crown: ORIGINAL, SCREW-DOWN unsigned. Crystal: ORIGINAL mineral WITH NUMEROUS MARKS/SCRATCHES. On the wrist, it looks OK...surprisingly legible from ALL angles. Markings on back: See photo 2. Bracelet/Strap: NEW & UNUSED 20mm BLACK RUBBER 'VINTAGE TROPIC' style strap. 20mm, tapering to 18mm at the buckle. Perfect on my 19cm wrist at the 5th largest adjustment, adjust up 4 holes (32mm), or down 3 holes (24mm).
20mm between lugs.
Marks/scratches to the ALL STAINLESS STEEL case.
WEARS VERY, VERY NICELY on the wrist...GREAT PATINA!
SUPER CLEAN throughout, NO previous owner's DNA.
'MATTE BLACK' 62-6198 dial, hands & all markings are all VG/VG+...APART FROM THE LUME LOSS ON THE HOUR & MINUTE HAND...ALSO, THE PRINTED MINUTE MARKERS FROM '6' through to '11' HAVE WORN OFF AROUND THE EDGE.
BI-DIRECTIONAL 'FRICTION' BEZEL TURNS NICE & SMOOTHLY.
REPRO CRYSTALS & BEZEL INSERTS ARE EASILY AVAILABLE IF YOU WERE WANTING TO 'FRESHEN IT UP' COSMETICALLY.
AT THE VERY LEAST, THERE ARE PLENTY OF GREAT SPARE PARTS HERE FOR YOUR VINTAGE CITIZEN 150m DIVER PROJECT(S)!!!

PLEASE NOTE: I'M PRETTY SURE THE DIAL IS FROM A 62-6198 CITIZEN 150m DIVER AS IT WOULD HAVE THE SAME DIAL FEET LOCATION TO ALLOW THE FITMENT OF THE 6501 MOVEMENT...BEING PART OF THE 6XXX MOVEMENT FAMILY. A 52-0110 DIAL WOULD HAVE DIFFERENT DIAL FEET LOCATIONS FOR THE 82XX MOVEMENT... CHEERS.
