About the Position | Te Mahi

In this role, you will be supporting families to provide care for infants and children with specific medical needs at home and in the hospital (where required).

This rewarding role of a Paediatric Community Support Worker involves (Job Responsibilities):

Assisting with personal care (showering, bathing)
?Assisting with home help duties (cleaning, laundry and meal preparation)
Assisting with feeding and medical care
Supporting exercise programmes
Assisting the young service users with accessing the community with parents
Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
Hospital care when inpatient in the Auckland Starship Hospital
Job Location: Auckland

We are looking for someone who can predominantly cover the following Auckland areas:
Warkworth, Totara Vale, Takapuna and Mount Eden

?Employment Type: Permanent Full time (30+ Hours) or Part Time (Up to 29 Hours)

We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Days of work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including am, pm and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

We are looking for someone who would be comfortable covering night shifts, which would include overnight (awake) shifts and weekend work. Overnight shifts are from 10 pm- 7.30 am or 11 pm - 7 am.

You are a calm but confident-natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. ?You are a clear communicator and are fully prepared to complete the duties that support the service user.
The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):

Experience working with infants and children (this may be in education, as a nanny, in your own family circle, or in other environments)
??Experience in assisting infants and children with their personal cares is desired
Demonstrated ability to care for an infant and child, including play and support for their appropriate age
??Willingness to support families in a way that meets their needs
Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full Driver's License is preferred)
A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
Flexibility to travel anywhere in Auckland
Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

Pay Band: $23.38 - $29.10 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
