We have an exciting opportunity for experienced and qualified mental health support workers or support workers with experience dealing with challenging behavior. We are looking for two team members to take up permanent part-time roles in Christchurch, Canterbury, We are looking for dynamic, energetic, and conscientious individuals who can support our clients within their own homes.
If successful, you will be joining a team of skilled staff, working within a positive and supportive environment. We are looking for people who would be comfortable working on a roster (weekends included)
Your responsibilities will include:
-Working closely with our client to provide support as they go about their daily tasks.
-Assisting the client with complex personal cares, home help, shopping assistance, and meal preps
-Supporting exercise programmers and medication
-Moving and handling using hoists and manual transfers
-Assisting the client to access the community
You will be responsible for maintaining their safety and well-being.
You will support the client in achieving positive goals in their lives and contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the services.
Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including AM, PM and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Pay Band: $23.38 - $29.10 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement by the Ministry of Health – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity)

The ideal candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
- Have supportive mindsets in supporting our client to achieve their goals / independent living in the community.
- Previous experience preferred but comprehensive training will be provided
- Experience in Complex care (for example Bowel & bladder care) and Challenging Behaviours would be preferred
- A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Health and Wellbeing would be an advantage.
- Access to your car and a Full Driver’s License is a requirement of the role (as this is community-based work)
- Flexibility to work on a roster (including weekends)
- Great communication skills
- Legal rights to work in New Zealand
