The Role:

The role is responsible to performing high-quality installation of commercial, industrial, and residential insulation, from start to finish. With full knowledge in handling asbestos.


  • Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material and equipment use. (Scope)
  • Read plans and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Transport tools and equipment to job sites, load, and unload insulation materials.
  • Prepare work sites, e.g., ensure all equipment required is set up on-site correctly.
  • Measures/cut/fastens insulation to fit into walls, ceilings & around pipes/ducts.
  • Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.
  • Install, remove, and repair insulation in buildings and mechanical systems/Industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
  • Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
  • Measure, mark, cut, drill, punch, bend, and shape sheet metal and other materials using tools such as hand and power sheers and snips, laser cutters, and light metalworking equipment.
  • Fit and join cladding materials with riveting, welding, soldering, and other tools to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
  • Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic.
  • Follows company and industry safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure you have been inducted into the site-specific JSA/TA/SSSP and have a good understanding of the works required, always ask your supervisor questions if unsure.
  • Work as a team and raise any risks, questions or concerns to the Foreman or General Manager.
  • Communicate with the clients and give them the best service possible.
  • Responsible for the high-quality removal of materials found to contain asbestos, and decontamination of asbestos-contaminated materials, dust, and surfaces within the interior and exterior of buildings, including demolition, and high-risk construction sites. High attention to detail is imperative to ensure contamination is contained and thoroughly removed throughout the duration of the work.
  • Strict in following Health and Safety procedures.
  • Able to assess hazards, determine risks, conduct regular inspections, and ensure the high-quality standard of work.


About You:


  • 1 year minimum work experience as insulator for commercial, industrial and residential projects.
  • Must be able and willing to obtain a NZ driver's license.
  • Familiarity with various insulation materials and installation techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret project specifications and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
