About us
Employing over 1400 staff in 13 locations across New Zealand, C3 Limited is a market leader in New Zealand's port related product and cargo handling, adding value to our client's businesses by providing innovative solutions to their transport and logistics needs.
The Role
We are seeking to appoint an experienced leader to focus on all aspects of our stevedoring and general cargo marshalling business, including car ship discharge, at the General Cargo wharfs in Auckland. The operation is complex and covers a variety of cargo including cars, containers, and steel. Reporting to the Logistics Manager we seek someone who can lead a team to perform to best practice and to lead continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring C3 consistently delivers quality services to our customers.
The team consists of two operations supervisors, mechanical supervisor, foremen, stevedores, crane/machinery operators and a large pool of car drivers. The port is busy and dynamic with a 24/7 operation where no two days are the same.
The successful candidate will require the following:
Proven leadership experience, ideally in a Port environment
Experience at optimizing efficiency of labour and plant
The skills and experience to lead a 100+ strong team
A keen understanding of the critical nature of Health & Safety in any operating environment and the proven ability to translate that into action on the ground
Effective relationship management with customers and staff
Well rounded business management skills enabling you to take hold of operations, the P&L, H&S, Customer service, HR and business development
Experience in building and developing high performing team cultures in complex labour environments
A high level of personal initiative, motivation and resilience
What's on offer?
C3 provides a progressive and stable work environment as an essential service provider. The position also offers plenty of scope, challenge, and variety in the fast-paced port/logistics environment.
Plenty of growth opportunities and a convenient downtown location make this an opportunity not to be missed! A company vehicle and onsite parking are provided with this role.
The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
