It’s finally time to say goodbye to my faithful Mondeo XR5 Turbo.
This incredibly versatile car has been with me since near new, (pretty much one owner) and has been a great all-rounder: heaps of space, plenty of power, great reliability, and a fantastic drivers car. Overall the best all-round car I’ve ever owned.
I actually replaced it with an RS4 a few years back, but still couldn’t bear to part with it. It’s a more engaging drivers car than the RS4 in my opinion.
The Mondeo XR5 Turbo was a special wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing model. Powered by the legendary Volvo T5 engine and running through a 6-speed Getrag box, it is a true drivers car with the practicality for everyday use.
This is unmodified mechanically apart from a Bluefin Stage 1 remap – the device comes with the car. I also upgraded the stereo to get Bluetooth connectivity – the original stereo also comes with the car.
Somewhere around 150,000 kms I replaced all the shocks – a typical Mondeo issue that has been sorted for you.
Mechanically this has always been kept serviced, and the next service is not due for another 9000 kms. It runs and drives perfectly and sits on performance Maxxis tyres.
Never had any accident damage.
Cosmetically it could do with some attention here and there. The body has various small marks on it, and the interior has a couple small things to attend to if you feel inclined. The window tint is also bubbling in some places. A couple of the wheels have some kerb rash. Bonnet is sunburnt. Happy to show you in more detail when you come for a look.
Overall a good honest car with no hidden issues.
I have no idea what it’s worth as these Mondeo XR5’s rarely come up for sale, so I’ll let the market decide with a $1 reserve auction. Auction finished this coming Friday night.

I bought one 6 months ago and love it. Modified exhaust sounds great. Heated seats, auto dimming mirror, auto headlights and dual climate air are great features. Vents on B pillar are good for rear passengers. Have done 200km around Manfield on a track day and my son and I loved it.
