Description
This listing is for a delightful METICULOUSLY hand-made "Scratch-Built" miniature model SHIPS CANNON of the type used by the British Royal Navy at the time of the epic Battle of Trafalgar Circa 1805
This one is "modern" built sometime during the middle 20th Century by (obviously) a KEEN student of British Royal Navy history
The attachment to detail is ADMIRABLE
Probably done by another great fan of The ADMIRAL Horatio Nelson who commanded the famed Battle of Trafalgar like a naval genius, alas sadly not to survive the epic sea battle that won him IMMORTALITY in the following centuries as the Admiral SAINT of the British Royal Navy
ONE of two miniature cannons that I am listing tonight
This is the LARGER of the two it does not have a fuse hole and the barrel is not bored all the way down to where it would connect to the fuse hole
BOTH are shown in my final image
NO FIREARMS LICENCE is required to bid, buy or own this miniature cannon

The SMALLER cannon measures 8.5" from fuse hole to the barrel mouth, & overall length is 11" (That's quasi "large" among model cannon). The BIGGER gun (without fuse hole) is 16" overall, that just LARGE and IMPRESSIVE in my view. 🙂 Seller comment Thursday, 18 April 2024 I was on the Victory 3 weeks ago. Many of the guns are wooden replicas. I was advised that this was because the decking can no longer withstand the weight of the original guns. Ship currently undergoing extensive renovations and has all the masts removed. Nice replicas you have t**********2 (472 • 01:27 pm, Thu, 18 Apr )Well that is HORRIBLE to hear. I knew that the grand old lady had a complete refit in 1905, & I had hoped that she would be preserved forever as a result. Perhaps that was naive? but to hear that she cannot support her guns is most saddening. Maybe they could SELL ME ONE? if so? then I could be assisting in the costs of her next refit/overhaul. DREAMS are always free. THANKS for confirming that these (hand-made, scratch-built, unique 1-off tributes to her guns of old DO pass muster 🙂 phillipjames (8989 • Thursday, 18 April 2024 )Does this have a hollow barrel and a wick hole? d****1 (528 • 08:58 am, Wed, 24 Apr )No it is not bored-through & it does not have a fuse hole. Just for display. The OTHER (smaller) one listed DOES have a bored-through (Functional) Barrel & it does have a fuse hole. I guess that why there is so much more interest in it?. This is the larger and more impressive display item phillipjames (8989 • Wednesday, 24 April 2024 )What are it's dimensions (length of barrel etc)? Thanks f*******e (1411 • 09:58 am, Thu, 25 Apr )The SMALLER cannon measures 8.5" from fuse hole to the barrel mouth, & overall length is 11" (That's quasi "large" among model cannon). They look like cast iron ? p*******y (261 • 05:20 pm, Sat, 27 Apr )This (LARGER) cannon does have a cast iron barrel, as I just tested it with a magnet. However the OTHER (Smaller) cannon did NOT have an Iron barrel, was NOT capable of being fired (As I had wrongfully stated) THIS (bigger) Cast Iron cannon has not been bored-through to the fuse hole, I expect that could be done, but I am not an engineer or weapons certified expert. Luckily this was sold as a "display" item THANKS for your interest phillipjames (8989 • Saturday, 27 April 2024 )What was the smaller cannons barrel me of ? Not sure id even fire he bigger cast iron one if it was drilled through . I have a cannon an it's barrel is 1040 ht steel .. I can fire it . No cast iron . p*******y (261 • 06:32 pm, Sat, 27 Apr )Someone had suggested it might be a Denix (I could NOT fins any branding) but it then FAILED the magnet test phillipjames (8989 • Saturday, 27 April 2024 )
