Description
This listing is for a delightful miniature model SHIPS CANNON of the type used by the British Royal Navy at the time of the epic Battle of Trafalgar Circa 1805 (Although I am told that Admiral Nelson's gun crews were equipped with flintlock ignition systems)
This one is "modern" built sometime during the middle 20th Century by (obviously) a KEEN student of British Royal Navy history
The attachment to detail is ADMIRABLE
Probably done by another great fan of The ADMIRAL Horatio Nelson who commanded the famed Battle of Trafalgar like a naval genius, alas sadly not to survive the epic sea battle that won him IMMORTALITY in the following centuries as the Admiral SAINT of the British Royal Navy
This cannon measures 8.5" from fuse hole to the barrel mouth, & overall length is 11" (That's quasi "large" among model cannon).
It DOES NOT have a fuse hole.
The barrel IS bored all the way down, to where it connects to where the fuse hole would usually be
This cannon is NOT FIREABLE
The barrel is non-magnetic metal that LOOKS exactly like cast iron (painted?)
BOTH cannons are shown in my final image (The larger one was already SOLD)
A SUPERB desk ORNAMENT
