Description
A retro or vintage LMS 5134 Vintage Open Wagon (Made in England) as per photos. I do not know how old it is but likely 1930s - 50s ?? Looks quite neat. Helpful watcher says "FYI it's not Hornby. It is either Mettoy or Brimtoy. Both these companies manufactured second tier clockwork trains which were a bit more lightly built than Hornby but nevertheless attractive toys." (thanks for that) And I do not know gauges, but am guessing !!! gauge 0. Distance between outside of wheel rims is approx 42mm, and inside of wheel rims is approx 25mm odd, and the inside from where the flat of the rim (where it rolls on the tracks) to the start of the highest bit of the wheel rim that would sit on the outside of the track is approx 32mm. So, from that, anyone who is into these should know, or be able to work out the true gauge easily. Now, to me, & I am not a train buff, it looks reasonably good for its age. Has scrapes marks, paint wear, chips etc, but to me its basically fine for what it is. There are a number of photos, so should be enough to give you a good general idea. It measures approx 130 mm total length, but just the tin wagon itself measures approx 105mm odd long x 45mm odd wide not counting the axles that stick out a bit, and approx 70mm odd high.
