Give through our Trade Me Kindness Store

Our members are a generous bunch, so we created the Kindness Store to make it as easy as possible to help Kiwi in need.

Help Kiwi in need by giving through Trade Me’s Kindness Store.

What is the Kindness Store?

Since 2018, we’ve been operating the Kindness Store - a virtual store on Trade Me where our members can easily purchase items sold on behalf of charities, which are in turn gifted directly to Kiwi in need.

We’ve opened the store at different times throughout the year. Over Christmas, to help those doing it tough during a would-be happy time, or during winter to give a little extra support to Kiwi who need it. We’ve also opened it in response to significant events impacting Aotearoa, like the Christchurch mosque attacks, COVID-19 lockdown period and Cyclone Gabrielle. Our ambition for the store is to make it as easy as possible for our members to help those who need it most.

Every time, we’re blown away by how much Kiwi want to give. To date, our members have raised more than $650,000 for our incredible charity partners which have included Women’s Refuge, KidsCan, Foster Hope, RainbowYOUTH and New Zealand Red Cross.

How does it work?

We work with selected charities to find out what items they need the most, and then make these items available for purchase in the Kindness Store, with donations starting from as little as $2.

Kiwi can then jump into the Kindness Store, pick an item, and pay for it, using our online payment system, Ping. We’ll take care of the rest, and make sure the item or donation gets safely to the charity.

It’s important to us that everything our members donate goes to those who need it, so 100% of the money raised by the Kindness Store goes directly to the charities, and we don’t charge any fees or make any money from the Store.

How can I donate?

Our Kindness Store is now open for donations!
