How do I set up car insurance?
Be ready for the unpredictable by getting your car insured before taking it on the road.
We’ll give you a quote
- Head over to the Trade Me Insurance car quote section.
- Enter the registration number of your car or enter the car details manually and fill in your address and driver details.
- You’ll get a quote – which will ask you for a few more details. For example, if your car has any mods and accessories, if you’ve made any car insurance claims in the past 2 years, how long you’ve had your licence for and offer optional extras.
- Confirms who the policy will cover – we need a bit more info about who will be driving the car – is it just you, or will someone else be driving it regularly?
- The legal stuff – take the time to read the terms and conditions. It will also ask you about any driving offences, licence suspension and criminal convictions you may have had.
- Confirm details – read over all the info carefully and make sure all your details are correct and you're happy with your quoted insurance premium.
- Buy - congrats, you’re now covered by car insurance! Remember, Trade Me members get a discount on their premiums!
