Recommendations from industry experts

Google may know a lot, but it doesn’t know everything. So we chatted to an interior design industry expert who’s worked for the country’s premier studio. These are her recommendations:

  • Spatial - Luxury tailored interiors, with a focus on details and custom design. These guys do stunning work, and have won several awards.

  • JKW - This team of four work on small houses, big houses, caravans, ugly houses - any residential project inside and out. And their work is immaculate - look at the quirky reno they completed on this historic Dunedin home

  • Material Creative - Created the coolest office of all time, and one of the best designed pubs in Auckland. They also do resi work, and it’s incredible - showcasing attention to detail, craftsmanship and plenty of lovely natural materials. Take a look at this Te Atatu house and tell me that’s not one of the most beautiful homes you’ve ever seen.

  • Atelier Jones Design - of the city’s elite design studios, Atelier Jones is perhaps the most budget friendly. They do incredible work that places good materials in the right places. And unlike most studios, they create unique items in their own workshop, including handmade furniture.
