Bitcoin and other crypto currencies may not be listed

We restrict the sale of digital currency or the offering to mine them due to concerns about people getting a fair deal.

Bitcoin has taken the hearts of many an investor (and drug dealer) and if you have enough of them, Elon Musk will take you for a ride in his rocket ship.

We think it’s a pretty cool idea but it’s not without risk or controversy so we’ve had a think and have had to put in place some pretty tough conditions on the listing of digital currencies such as Bitcoin on the site.

You cannot list:

  • Bitcoins or other digital currency
  • Offers of the service to mine coins
  • Digital or paper wallets
  • Payment terminals for digital currency

The restriction on the sale of digital currency or the offering to mine them is due to concerns about people getting a fair deal.

You can list:

  • The rigs or devices which mine Bitcoins or similar electronic currencies

Trade Me feels there is less risk involved with these devices so are comfortable with their sale.
