Written by Robyn in General at 9:50am, Wed 13 Jun 2012

This week is New Zealand's first official Cyber Security Awareness Week, which means it's a great time to improve your online security.

Password security is important to get right, but it’s one area not many people do well in. The good news is that it’s easy to improve, so here are a few tips to help keep your passwords secure:

Do's

Update to the banned and restricted items list

Written by Guy in General at 5:02pm, Tue 5 Jun 2012

We've recently updated the items that can’t be listed on Trade Me, or can only be listed in limited circumstances.

Significant changes have been made to digital media, firearms, flights, ladders and offensive weapons while other sections have been brought up to date.

It's always a good idea to check if you're unsure whether your item is able to be listed on the site. You can see the complete updated banned and restricted items list here.

Update to Privacy policy

Written by Sharon and Guy in General at 11:16am, Fri 1 Jun 2012

We have updated our Privacy policy to keep pace with how we use new technology. The section about cookies has been extended to include local storage, and the old iPhone section has been updated to reflect all the great mobile apps we now offer on different platforms.

As always your privacy is really important to us, so while the changes aren’t significant, we wanted to let you know.

View our updated Privacy policy now – in particular see ‘Cookies and local storage’ and ‘Mobile’ sections.

New restrictions on selling ladders

We are concerned there may be other ladders being sold that do not meet the standard, so we are introducing a new requirement that only new ladders that comply with this standard can be listed. This change will take effect from 1 July 2012, giving members a month to get ladders they have in stock tested to the standard.  More...

Payment delays - Queens Birthday

Written by Shanin in General at 1:00pm, Wed 30 May 2012

Queens Birthday is coming up this Monday, so we wanted to let you know there will be a delay with payments if you use phone or internet banking to top up your Trade Me account. If your payment is made after 8pm on Friday 1 June, it will not arrive in your Trade Me account until Wednesday 6 June.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, but this is how the banks roll on Public Holidays. We hope you all have a safe and happy long weekend.
