Description
SEAWORTHY was designed by Gestalt Studios for Auckland Design Week, as part of a 'table' activation in partnership with Architecture Graduate Jack Wu and Think Packaging.
Event partners each converted a flat-packed white plinth into their interpretation of 'Bold & Brave' (our curatorial theme). When placed together, the submissions became a visual representation of NZ's design industry. Gestalt Studios' SEAWORTHY stools were designed to provide a place for collaboration and conversation between designers and disciplines, around this 'table' activation.
Consider it a subtle nod to Auckland Design Weeks' mission: to create a platform for change that facilitates collaboration, encourages conversation whilst showcasing and supporting our local design community.
Realised as a series of intersecting planes and made entirely from Critical Cleanstone; a sustainable plastic panel made in Aotearoa from 100% reclaimed NZ plastic waste, and 100% recyclable. The result is a monolithic form that appears to be carved out of a whole rather than assembled from parts.
With only a few fixings, SEAWORTHY is a portable stool or side table in a soft green hue that not only brightens up a room but contributes to cleaning plastic waste from the ocean. Making it only fitting that we support Sustainable Coastlines' incredible work doing the same.
Limited issue, with only eight fabricated. For auction starting at $1 NO RESERVE is #7 and #8 from the collection (one pair of stools only).
All proceeds from the auction (after Trade Me fees) will be donated to Sustainable Coastlines.
