Trade Me message boards: "The talk of the towns"

Written by Paul in General at 10:51am, Fri 20 Aug 2010

At the weekend, while you were sipping your coffee and perusing the Sunday papers you may have come across a little one-page piece in the Sunday glossy magazine (tucked into the Sunday Star-Times) on the Trade Me message boards. The article, penned by reporter Adam Dudding, stars "Maisy1", and also mentions "kcak", "suferdog26" and "sxcstar".

If you missed it, you can read it by clicking here. Thanks to Adam and the Sunday Star-Times for sending us through the PDF and giving us permission to post it up here.

Issue with bill payment processing

Written by Darren in Site status at 9:48am, Tue 17 Aug 2010

Just a heads up - we are experiencing issues with our bill payment process this morning so internet payments made yesterday haven’t shown up on members' accounts yet. Our technical guys have the hood up and are tinkering with the engine but at this stage we are still unsure of what the problem is. We will post an update once we have this resolved.

Update 11.58am - We have resolved this issue and bill payments are now being processed to accounts. Our apologies for the delay.

Hot hot hot: Home & living number crunch

Written by Craig & Richie in General at 9:15am, Tue 17 Aug 2010

Today we thought we'd take a look around the 150,000+ listings that comprise the Home & living category. There's an enormous variety in there: everything from wine to flights, to tarot cards, to spa pools, to rose petals for your wedding.

We did a couple of things: we rummaged into some of the specific areas proving popular for buyers browsing and searching, and we also put the magnifying glass on the areas with the highest sell-through rates. (We excluded pets and furniture to keep things as diverse and interesting as we could - head over here if you want to see the 'Most searched dogs'.)

Probably the most eye-catching statistics to emerge were the impressive numbers around firewood - in the past month or so more than 2000 sales have been completed and 50% of all listings have sold! In terms of searches, it was a bit of a surprise that "Steam mop", "Moving overseas", "frangipani" and "shabby chic" were all so high up the list. More...

Shining the spotlight on service

Written by Nathan in Top Seller at 2:05pm, Fri 13 Aug 2010

We thought we were long overdue in tipping our hats to some of the traders providing truly outstanding customer service on the site. We asked our Analytics team (thanks Suhel) to run some numbers to shine the spotlight on some of our most impeccable traders.

The traders highlighted here all have mighty impressive records, having successfully completed more than 60,000 trades between them without a single negative feedback in sight. Some people just know how to get things right (and put things right), and they all come highly recommended by your fellow Trade Me members.
