Introducing ‘Make an offer’

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 8:00am, Mon 28 Sep 2020

From today, we’re trialing a new feature that allows buyers to make an offer for general items.

‘Make an offer’ is a new option that sellers can add to their listing. When turned on, buyers can make the seller an offer, which is valid for 24 hours. The seller can choose to accept or decline the offer.

This trial will be rolled out to about 25% of our sellers, and only on our yellow apps for now. If things go well, we’ll look to release it wider to all casual sellers.

From today, support on Trade Me will be totally online and free.

Phone support hasn't been available since the beginning of alert level 4, and we won’t be turning this back on. This includes our 0900 general number, and our dedicated Top Seller and FindSomeone phone lines.

We’re doing this to focus on our more effective support channels, like email and live chat. Doing this means members will get help from the right person first time, without having to pay for a call.  More...
