Heads up: Motors pricing changes on the way

On 9 April we are making some changes to listing, success and promotional fees for selling vehicles on Trade Me. This includes cars, motorbikes, boats & other vehicles such as aircraft, buses, caravans & motorhomes, earthmoving machinery, horse floats, specialist cars, tractors, trailers, trucks and wrecked cars.

If you are selling a vehicle via a classified, the listing fee range will increase from the current fee range of $39-$59, to $39-$69. The listing fee depends on the asking price and pricing changes are as set out below:

- $39 for an asking price under $1,500 (currently $39 for under $1,000 asking price)
- $59 for an asking price between $1,500-$10,000 (currently $49 for $1,000-$10,000 asking price)

Scheduled Maintenance

Trade Me is going to be unavailable between 2am and 5am tomorrow morning for scheduled maintenance and upgrades. All auctions that are due to close between 2am and 6am will be extended by four hours.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Trade Me to sell Treat Me

We announced today that we’re intending to sell our group-buying website Treat Me to a consortium led by the current head of Treat Me, James MacAvoy.

We’re delighted to have reached agreement with James and his team, and expect they’ll be able to approach the business with lots of ideas and entrepreneurial zest. We wish them all the best.

New reference numbers for Trade Me transactions

When you buy or sell an item on Trade Me, we supply a reference number to include while completing the transaction (e.g., when paying by bank deposit). This reference number used to be the same as the listing number of the item, but it is now a unique number beginning with 'P'.
