Upcoming changes to our privacy policy

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 3:00pm, Mon 25 Nov 2019

From 9 December 2019, we’re making two changes to our privacy policy.

• Previously, if you had opted out under our privacy option, we weren’t able to use your personal information to improve the relevancy and customisation of Trade Me marketing on our sites and apps, or that we send you e.g. by email. We think it’s reasonable, and often expected by customers, that we tailor our own marketing to you, so we’re changing our privacy policy to reflect this.

For example, this means we’ll be able to use your personal information to send you an email for a clothing sale if we think it might be relevant to you. If you don’t want to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe from our ‘Email preference’ pageMore...

Because this wasn’t planned, listings that were set to close over this time aren’t able to be extended, so have closed. Again, we're sorry about this.  More...

Listing changes for international sellers are live

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 12:30pm, Fri 1 Nov 2019

As we announced in September, from today, international sellers won’t be able to offer auctions, and pick-up shipping options. Ping and Afterpay will also be the only payment methods offered by international sellers.

On 1 December we will be collecting NZ GST of 15% on all Trade Me purchases from any international seller to a New Zealand buyer, and these changes are part of this process.
