Trade Me welcomes students for WorkChoice Day 2012

Written by The Trade Me Jobs Team in General and Jobs at 5:09pm, Wed 16 May 2012

As a sponsor of Workchoice Day 2012, the Trade Me Jobs team played host to a vibrant bunch of Year 12 students this week, providing some behind the scenes insight into the variety of jobs that exist across our business.

Workchoice Day is held annually around New Zealand, providing students with first-hand experiences in an area of work that they are interested in. This year, over 200 organisations welcomed 4,500 students from 110 schools nationwide as part of the initiative. As the good people at Workchoice Day say: “It takes a village to educate a child and with a little help from your company a student can go a long way.”

We welcomed students from Samuel Marsden Collegiate, Aotea College and Upper Hutt College at our Wellington headquarters, and from Rangitoto College and St Cuthbert’s College in Auckland. A big thanks to the staff who gave presentations, and all the best to the students with their studies. Who knows, perhaps some of them will join us at Trade Me down the track!

A Pay Now update

Written by The Trade Me Team in General at 10:21am, Mon 7 May 2012

We wanted to get in touch with some news about Pay Now, the service that allows sellers to accept credit card payments for sales on Trade Me.

What has changed?
The Pay Now fee discount for Top Sellers has been tweaked today to align with the other discounts that apply to the Top Seller programme. As a result, the fee paid by Top Sellers on payments received via Pay Now has increased to 1.65%. This is a discount of 15% on the standard fee of 1.95% paid by other sellers.

Anything else?
Yes, the Seller terms and conditions for Pay Now have also been updated. You can view these hereMore...

Help save the kiwis

Written by Jeff in General at 1:52pm, Tue 1 May 2012

We’re happy to announce a new partnership with the Save the Kiwi Trust. From today, sellers can choose to round up their success fee to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to Save the Kiwi. It’s easy to set up and a great way to help contribute to the efforts of saving our native feathery animal friends.

Every cent pledged by sellers via the success fee top-up will go to the Trust. The funds from Trade Me sellers have been earmarked to increase the critically endangered rowi kiwi population on the South Island’s West Coast from 357 kiwi to 600.

If you’re selling an item on Trade Me and want to donate to the Trust, tick the check-box during the sell process. Please check out our help section for more information.
