Some updates to our privacy policy

We wanted to let you know about some further tweaks to our privacy policy we’ll be making on 27 October 2017.

We’ll be making some small changes to clarify existing parts of our privacy policy which deal with:

• how cookies, pixels and similar technologies can be used to advertise to you,
• how advertising can occur across devices when you use Trade Me, and
• how you can opt out from certain advertising sources. More...

Today we are announcing two limited time promotions.

For casual sellers only, goods listed in our general items Marketplace on Saturday 7 October will not incur a success fee.

Macrons (and other accents) on your name

This week we added the ability for members to include macrons (and other accents) when entering their first and last names. You can update your name from the contact details section on your My Trade Me page.

While it may seem like a tiny area of the site that we’ve updated, it was a large piece of work with wide-ranging impact to the code base. We wanted to update this and the member profile first, as a person’s name is an important part of their identity and they should be able to write it correctly.

Our end goal is to have Trade Me fully support unicode across all data we store and we’ll continue to work towards this.  More...

Scheduled maintenance

Trade Me will be unavailable on Wednesday, 4 October between 2:00 am and 2:30 am for scheduled maintenance.

All auctions that are due to close between 2:00 am and 2:30 am will be extended by one hour.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Issue with Hotmail emails

We're aware of an issue affecting some members who use a Hotmail email address. This may cause a delay in some emails being delivered and received.

We are currently working with Hotmail to resolve this. If you aren't receiving your Trade Me emails, we'd recommend using your My Trade Me page to stay on top of your trades, or setting up a temporary Gmail email address.

We'll update this announcement when we have an update.
