Changes to our Cats and Dogs categories

We recently released our new Code of Animal Welfare for Cats and Dogs. When we announced the code we gave Trade Me members a heads up about some changes coming to listing cats and dogs in order to promote greater animal welfare when they’re listed with us.

The first of those changes comes into effect today. We have now split the Cat and Dog categories into 'to buy’ and ‘to adopt’. This allows sellers to clearly state whether they are selling a dog or cat, or if they’re simply trying to rehome an animal they can no longer care for.

All current listings are in the process of being migrated to the new categories so sellers don’t need to make any changes to their listings.

We’ve got some more changes coming in the next few weeks and will keep you posted as these changes come into place.
